Dr. Paul Garfinkle graduated cum laude from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, PA with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry. He then attended Jefferson Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in PA where he received his medical doctorate in 1993. Dr. Garfinkle completed his internship at Abington Memorial Hospital before leaving the state of PA. His ophthalmology residency was fulfilled at Jonas Friedenwald Eye Institute at Maryland General Hospital in Baltimore where he was appointed Chief Resident from 1996-97.
Dr. Garfinkle joined Ohio Eye Alliance in 1999 as a general ophthalmologist. He brings to the clinic experience in small incision and no stitch cataract surgery, and the diagnosis and treatment of medical retina, including diabetes and age related macular degeneration.
He served on the medical staff of Alliance Community Hospital where he was president of the medical staff and chair of the surgery department.
He is board certified in ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Medical Association and the American Society of Retina Specialists. He specializes in the treatment of retinal diseases including: Diabetic Retinopathy, Age-related macular Degeneration and Vein Occlusions.
